Jessica Cooper gave a talk at Cornwall Contemporary in June 2024, and spoke beautifully about the paintings in her exhibition The Long Weekend. She talked about her inspiration and process behind her paintings and gave a fascinating insight to her painting practice. Jesse Leroy Smith hosted the Q and A session and the event was filmed and will be available to view via Newlyn Art School and Cornwall Contemporary.
In addition to Jessica’s artist talk, Cornwall Contemporary’s Director Sarah Brittain-Mansbridge was interviewed by Jesse Leroy Smith and talked about the history of the gallery, the arts in Cornwall and spoke at length about how to forge a long lasting relationship with a gallery. She gave a lot of advice for all prospective artists about how to promote yourself professionally, what a gallery is looking for when selecting work, and most importantly, what artists should expect their gallery to do to promote their work and support them in their career. The 45 minute film will be available to watch through Cornwall Contemporary and Newlyn Art School.
