Neil Pinkett – Quayside

For his latest solo exhibition at Cornwall Contemporary, Neil Pinkett has focused on Cornish quaysides.

Bustling fishing ports, lone moored boats, cottages clustered around the safe embrace of a harbour, figures walking along a pier, lighthouses, slipways… Quaysides are the embodiment of how daily life in Cornwall revolves around our proximity to the sea.

The sea has always been Neil’s obsession throughout his career, but his subject matter is light, just as much as it is sea. This wonderful collection of paintings shows how his masterly handling of light upon the water conveys and stirs emotion within all of us and portrays the Cornish landscape that we love.

Neil Pinkett was born in St. Just, Cornwall in 1958. His early artistic career saw him work as a successful illustrator before he moved into the fine art arena with a hugely successful debut solo exhibition in 1996. Since that date Neil has become one of the foremost landscape painters in Britain.

His work has been exhibited at a large number of galleries throughout the UK and Gordon Ramsay Restaurant, London and a collection of his paintings has also toured in venues across America.

His work can be found in private collections around the world.
