A uniqu

e exhibition of paintings of Cornwall, Bath and Venice painted from Neil Pinkett’s boat and his sea kayak.

“A lot of my working life has been spent on or near water.

I was born in St. Just at the far south-western tip of Cornwall and grew up living next to the sea; perched on cliffs, rocks and harbour walls and later gained access to the water’s surface in various craft. I have a specially-adapted sea kayak which can be propelled by pedals enabling me to paint and which has taken me not only around the coast of Cornwall but through Ireland and parts of Scotland and I have a Dutch barge moored on the River Avon on the outskirts of Bath city, which provides not only a temporary home but access to the beautiful Kennet and Avon canal. I have also always felt a connection to Venice and it’s myriad of waterways and relish the challenge of capturing the golden Italian light reflected on the canals there.

This group of paintings demonstrate my personal relationship with water and the world that is reflected in it.”
