Janet Lynch - Lines of Thought

Lines of Thought
“Poetry has always played a major role in my life, and sometimes the lines of verse, translate themselves into visual lines, and I stumble onto the beginnings of a painting.
These works don’t illustrate the poems , but rather try to capture the evocative spirit of the words.
I have included some lines from each poem, the title, and the author, so that it is possible to read the complete work if the viewer wishes .
In addition, there are other paintings which
while not directly influenced by verse, I hope have a poetic feel to them.”

Janet Lynch, June 2016

If you were in a hurry, and had just a few minutes to look at a selection of Janet Lynch’s work, you’d still come away feeling inspired.
Energy positively pours out of her paintings, as do warmth, colour and
humanity. The effect is captivating but to spend more time with the paintings – to give them the attention they deserve – is to discover a depth and resonance that only intensifies their immediate appeal.
Janet’s most recent work, on show at Cornwall Contemporary from June 15, takes its inspiration from lines of some of her favourite poems. She hopes they “capture the evocative spirit of the words”.
They do just that. Rather beautifully.
