I’m thrilled to be able to share some special news that I’ve had to keep under my hat for a while. In May I received a letter from the Cabinet Office which informed me that I have been awarded an MBE for Services to Art in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
To say I am hugely overwhelmed is an understatement! I’m incredibly grateful to have even been considered to join such an illustrious list of people being honoured by the King and I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you. This means the absolute world to me and it’s been the privilege of my life to have spent the last 28 years working with talented artists and promoting art in Cornwall, in my hometown of Penzance.
I share this honour with all of the wonderful artists I’ve ever worked with, I’m immensely proud that your artwork is now in collector’s homes around the world which is a testament to your talent. I also want to thank my brilliant staff, SJ, Maggie, Emma and Jess and all of you who have been such a champion of what we do here at Cornwall Contemporary – we love to hear from our customers and followers worldwide, your enthusiasm for our artist’s work is what makes our job so special. And of course, I also share this with my always supportive husband Dom.
I love being part of such a thriving art community and this recognition is the absolute cherry on top. I will continue to endeavour to create opportunities for artists to shine.
I’m very much looking forward to my investiture at the palace and receiving my medal!
