The film of Emma McClure in discussion with Cornwall Contemporary director Sarah Brittain-Mansbridge, where they talk about her mother Daphne McClure’s life and work and chat about the stories behind the paintings in Daphne McClure’s ‘A Celebration of Her Life and Work’ spring 2025 exhibition at the gallery .
Emma also talsk about what it was like to grow up with an artist for a mother, about her own paintings and inspirations behind the paintings in her exhibition which accompanies Daphne’s at Cornwall Contemporary. We also see Emma painting in her studio and a behind the scenes of Sarah hanging both exhibitions and at the private view for both of Emma and Daphne’s very special exhibitions.
This film was made by a young filmmaker from Mauritius, Dipti Doorga who has been on a work experience placement at the gallery and the film is a culmination of her time at Cornwall Contemporary. With many thanks to Dipti for this wonderful fim and also to Sienna Boon who assisted with filming, and of course, to Emma McClure for sharing so many wonderful memories about her mother.
