Maggie Matthews - Natural Forms

All natural forms are a source of unending interest to me. From pebbles and shells to flowers and seeds. I am inspired by their simplicity but also drawn to their complex texture and detail. As I walk I pick up stones, seeds, shells and bits of seaweed, intending to turn them into paintings. Starting with sketches of my found objects I develop the drawings until I've found a really strong image. Arranging and composing these life forms onto the canvas until they float in a timeless space.
