Jamie Boyd

Jamie Boyd: I was born and educated in Eastbourne where I gained a distinction in Art and Design at Eastbourne College of Arts. I then moved to Cornwall where I studied Illustration, graduating with a BA First Class Honours Degree, and then went on to achieve an MA Illustration at Falmouth College of Arts.

My work has been exhibited in various venues internationally, in both solo and mixed exhibitions. I have recently been the artist in residence at Falmouth Docks.

As a painter living in Falmouth, I paint a varied range of landscape, still life and figurative subjects, from seascapes to heavy industry, using both drawing in-situ and studio based painting in my practice.

Influenced by my own personal experiences, I creatively wish to unveil the beauty of my surroundings through the medium and poetry of painting.

Jamie Boyd is a dynamic and industrious artist. Falmouth, Cornwall remains his base since he graduated from art college there, but he travels extensively which motivates and inspires the work. Travelling has always provided major artistic input stemming from receiving a number of artistic travelling bursary awards whilst still a student and also as he began his full time painting career. Jamie has just returned from a number of months travelling through Africa. He continues to be one of the most successful painters at Cornwall Contemporary’s London exhibitions and I believe his career will continue to flourish.
