Daphne McClure, The Mayonnaise Pot

Born in Helston, Cornwall in 1930, Daphne McClure attended Hornsey College and the Central School of Art. After a job at the Royal Opera House she returned to Cornwall in 1976 and now paints full time from her studio in Penzance. In 1995 she was commissioned by the Tate, St. Ives to design a mug to coincide with the first ever exhibition at the gallery. Her work has been exhibited extensively and in 2005 she was invited to Conneticut for an artist’s residency.
