Nancy Pickard was born in Sao Paulo in Brazil in 1963 and was schooled in Guernsey before studying art at Central School of Art in London and the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff.

In 2002 she moved to West Cornwall to work full time as an artist and quickly gained recognition for her unique and beautiful silver jewellery.
She lives and works in a former Sunday School built in the eighteenth century which is reputed to have been where John Wesley gave a sermon on one of his trips to Cornwall. Nancy redeveloped the building recently creating both a beautiful home and large new studio space. Nancy has taken inspiration from the history and materials recycled from the building and in fact some of Wesleys prayers appear in the pieces.
Nancy has never felt the need to specialise in any one skill. A never ending enthusiasm and energy leads her to absorb herself in painting for a time before moving onto sculpting which leads her back in turn to making jewellery. Solo exhibitions of her work have been held nationwide at venues including Beaux Arts, Bath, Stark Gallery, London, Contemporary Ceramics, Carnaby Street in London and Prema Arts Centre, Gloucestershire. She also exhibits regularly at Primavera Cambridge, Guild of Ten, Truro and Stark Gallery, Canterbury among others.
It is my great pleasure to present Nancys first solo exhibition of painting, sculpture and jewellery in Cornwall.

Although best known for her jewellery, Nancy Pickard has always been, first and foremost, an artist, embracing the disciplines of painting, assemblage and sculpture. Her juxtaposition of surfaces and images is striking and bold in conception. The pieces are poetic and reflect Nancys knowledge and understanding of all kinds of art. The work is both refreshing and original, making this a must see exhibition.
