Dr Bren Unwin first came to West Penwith in the 1960s and is currently President of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers at Bankside, London. Unwin is also a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists and her work is held in both public and private art collections. In 2008 she was awarded a PhD in Fine Art by the University of Hertfordshire.
Bren Unwin offers multi-layered prints and oil paintings as a response to her reading of Michael Sagar-Fentons acclaimed account of the Penlee Lifeboat disaster - a tragedy that occurred in 1981 and that resulted in the loss of sixteen lives from the RNLI Lifeboat Solomon Browne and the cargo vessel Union Star.
